More About Me.
This is a little information about my journey in life and some key milestones.

ABOUT ME
I am Johnpaul Yi, a musician and producer based near Trowbridge. I believe that music has the power to transport you to another time and place, real or imagined, and can even soothe the soul. Music has always played a key role in my life as both a creative outlet and a way to express and connect with people. After being gifted a guitar for my 11th birthday I was 'hooked', and soon started writing songs and playing in bands. I have a very eclectic musical taste from blue grass to heavy metal and anything inbetween.
EARLY YEARS
I've always had a creative side that loved music since a young age - anyone remember when Walk Like an Egyptian by the Bangles came out in 1986? I'm not sure the face was part of the dance though!

MY FIRST INSTRUMENT
After being gifted a guitar for my 11th birthday, I was hooked. I was a prolific comsumer of many musical styles, and could sit in my room for hours listening to album after album, imagining a story to the tracks. I was lucky enough to have 3 Uncles who played guitar and taught me songs by The Eagles and Simon and Garfunkel.

WRITING SONGS
As I grew in confidence on the guitar, and started to explore the world of synthesisers as well, I started to write songs with my classmates and experiment with a 4-track tape recorder. This is an early recording (of a very popular song in the 90's) that's survived the tape degredation over the years!

A BAND CALLED "SETBACK"
Looking back, I think the band name is likely to leave people scratching their heads, but none-the-less this was the name we settled-on after a random flick of the dictionary! I've been in various bands but this was the longest lived, and we had a great time writing songs together and playing around the Scarborough area, including Murry's, Soundwave festival, The Spa, and even supported Toby Jepson (of Little Angels) at Mojo's Music Cafe.
